As Memorial Day weekend marks the beginning of the summer season for many communities across the country, Kalamazoo Country Club opened the doors to its highly anticipated new clubhouse and short course facilities. While the holiday weekend offers an opportunity for friends and families to gather, it also serves as a time of reflection and appreciation for those who have dedicated their lives to serving others.
With warm weather and sunshine finally arriving in West Michigan, members will have the opportunity to experience the club’s newly reimagined hospitality, dining, recreation, and social spaces throughout the holiday weekend.
We would like to congratulate the entire Kalamazoo Country Club team on the completion of this remarkable multi-year transformation, and we are honored to have one of our handcrafted Sloan Walnut shuffleboard tables included in the new clubhouse environment.
Kalamazoo Country Club officially opened its new clubhouse and short course facilities ahead of Memorial Day weekend, unveiling a thoughtfully designed hospitality and recreation environment that blends golf, dining, wellness, and social gathering spaces into a modern club experience.
The multi-year transformation includes a new clubhouse, a short course designed by architect Andrew Green, expanded dining experiences, fitness amenities, racquet sports facilities, and entertainment-focused gathering spaces designed around member interaction and hospitality.
As part of the new clubhouse environment, the club selected a handcrafted Sloan Walnut shuffleboard table designed to complement the space's warmth and architectural character.
The reimagined Kalamazoo Country Club represents far more than a traditional golf clubhouse expansion. The new campus was designed as a year-round hospitality and recreation environment centered around connection, wellness, dining, entertainment, and shared experiences for members of all ages.
Alongside the newly opened short course and future championship golf course designed by Andrew Green, the club now features a wide range of thoughtfully integrated amenities including indoor and outdoor dining spaces, racquet sports facilities, resort-style pools, fitness and wellness areas, bowling and gaming spaces, a private theater, youth activity spaces, and social gathering environments designed to encourage everyday interaction and community.
Rather than separating recreation into isolated entertainment rooms, the new clubhouse environment blends hospitality, leisure, and social experiences throughout the property’s architectural design. Within this broader vision, the handcrafted Sloan Walnut shuffleboard table was incorporated as one element of the clubhouse gathering spaces — complementing the warm material palette and helping create an inviting atmosphere where members and guests can relax and connect throughout the year.
The result is a clubhouse experience that feels less focused on any single amenity and more centered around creating an environment where golf, dining, wellness, recreation, and community naturally come together.
Projects like Kalamazoo Country Club reflect the growing role recreation and gathering spaces play within modern hospitality-focused environments. From private clubs and luxury residential developments to restaurants and commercial spaces, thoughtfully integrated shuffleboard installations can help create inviting social environments that foster connection and community year-round.
Because every project presents unique architectural and spatial considerations, careful space planning is essential to designing a shuffleboard installation that complements the room's overall atmosphere and flow.
