Venture Games is a second-generation, family-owned company based in Tyrone, Georgia. They are one of the few established American manufacturers that have stayed true to traditional woodworking techniques, particularly in their use of synthetic lacquer finishes rather than the industry-standard poured polymer (plastic) tops. Venture operates a larger industrial facility that supports a national dealer network and high-volume OEM manufacturing for other brands. This Venture Shuffleboard table comparison to McClure tables will break down the differences.
At McClure Tables, we build and sell direct-to-consumer with no middlemen or distributors. We only use the best materials in every price range. Whether you buy a table for our entry-level price of $5,895 or spend up to $28,000, the cabinet, legs, and playboard are all still made from locally harvested Hard Maple.
For comparison purposes, we'll compare features on three McClure Models in the same price range as some Venture Shuffleboard Models.
Sizes: 9, 12, 14-foot
Retail Price Range: $5,830 -$ 7,560
Sale Price Range $4,081- $5,292
Playboard: 16" wide, 1 3/4" thick, claims on the website that it's made of hard maple.
Playboard Finish: Synthetic Lacquer Finish
Cabinet Construction: This cabinet is a plywood base and finished using a high-pressure laminate
Customizations: You have several choices, including scoreboard options, neon glow-in-the-dark playboard options, and carpet colors.
Factory-Produced: Factory mass-produced tables all have a couple of things in common; one is the multi-tier distribution model with lots of website and reseller middlemen markups, and the second is that they are always on sale. So the retail price really is a gimmick price.

Playboard Finish: Lifetime Warranty Traditional Piano Polyester Finish (10 times harder than polymer poured resins)

We want to clearly state that in this Venture Shuffleboard Model comparison, we do not claim that Venture tables are imported. However, we have firsthand evidence of an import company that asked us to quote 12-foot playboards. They were short on some inventory during the height of the tariff war.
Venture does not claim to glue up their own boards; they buy them from someone else. However, it is very suspect when you see no real factory work shots or images on their website. They show a slick video produced by the owner, shot with a chop saw.
The price they quoted to this other company for these playboards was not even what it cost us to make them. They do not make themselves, so it would be impossible for this to have originated in the USA.
We know that many butcher block countertops and blocks are imported from both China and Russia. I suspect some of these importers are also importing blank shuffleboard blocks, given how popular shuffleboard tables are today. Possibly, this is where some of these assembler-type companies get their tops. They are most likely Russian or Chinese birch marketed as maple.

It seems they are making all kinds of other products too now, like Pool Tables, foosball ect. We had a customer visit our shop once who bought from us but lived within an hour of it. He told us they were not making everything from scratch. Looking at the photo shoot from a recent HGTV visit to the shop, it is clear that the shop is not large enough or equipped to build everything in-house. There is nothing wrong with this type of manufacturing, but it is factory-produced and what we call a hybrid-manufacture. Someone who does some in-house work and a lot of contract work.
McClure Tables are handcrafted in Michigan. We do not cut any corners. Our prices are lower across our line, whether you are looking at our in-stock models, wholesale direct, or custom-made. The difference is simply no middleman markup. If you are trying to compare apples to apples, ask a local dealer if they can have a shuffleboard table custom-made in a premium hardwood like Hard Rock Maple, American Cherry, Black walnut, or even exotic wood like Sapele or Mahogany. Some factory-made shuffleboard manufacturers can offer these options, but you will pay thousands extra for what is standard with our custom line of tables. Why not buy handcrafted products rather than factory-made ones, like California House Shuffleboard Tables?
